Commander Dizaei

A crook in uniform is as much a crook as one that breaks into your house late at night to nick your tv, if not more so.

Commander Dizaei has at last been found guilty, for Assault, Perverting the Course of Justice, and Wrongful arrest.
He's a shameful example of how appallingly a small minority of officers behave - and a reminder that rank doesn't always equate to a good person, let alone a good copper.

The Black Police Association were hugely verbal throughout, stating that Dizaei was innocent, and accusing the Police of racism for charging soon to be ex-Commander Dizaei.
This despite the victim also being from an ethnic minority.

Disgraceful behaviour on his part. When you "accidently" delete the texts that apparently were sent to you, and are believed by doctors to have self harmed in order to set someone up... I'm just glad that he no longer wears the uniform that I do.

As a final aside, listen to his 999 call, HERE

Again, embarassing. Firstly, his shout for 'Urgent Assistance.' This is a Golden phrase, and when used EVERY copper on duty will run - firstly from your area and neighbouring areas, then central units, then potentially met wide. If a Police Officer is in dire straits and is about to get seriously hurt, we will do anything including putting ourselves at risk to get to you.

He used this assistance call for his own lies - and listening to the tape, even if the arrest had been justified and truthful, there is no way that he is in an urgent assistance situation. He is calmly talking to the detained male (who was by the way in handcuffs) and frankly I'd be hard pushed to understand a brand new probationer calling for urgent assistance in those circs, let alone a supposedly experienced officer.

He also used bullying tactics and ordered the operator to let him speak to "Chief Inspector IR" - Chief Inspector Information Room. Whether he thought this implicit threat would help, or that he was entitled to special service because of his rank, who knows... I'm sure that if I called 999 and demanded to speak to Chief Inspector IR I'd be given deservedly short shrift.

And lets not even get into the hows and whys of him being in uniform, off duty, in a cafe, conducting private business deals, with handcuffs to hand.
Actually, why hasn't this been dealt with?

SOP for Mr Dizaei, he was well known for it. I understand the Daily Mail will be publishing a little bit more about our 'Persian Friend' in coming days - it seems he was never out of his short sleeved uniform shirt.

  2. Ranter, it's not often I say this - but I can't wait to see what the Daily Mail has got.

I've got a more personal story about Dizaei, before his commander rank was bestowed on him, that I may well share in a few days depending on how the dust settles.

  3. "...I can't wait to see what the Daily Mail has got."

Well, the 'Guardian' is singing from the expected hymnsheet...

  4. Good post, and good to learn a bit about the internal processes too. One report said he was drunk in the cafe where the altercation took place. In uniform, drunk, off duty? Why was he not held to account for this type of behaviour before now?

  5. Just an aside but Chief Inspector IR is a very old turn o phrase. It is rarely even someone of that rank. Also bearing in mind this happened in July 08 then IR had ceased to exist having been replaced by the much more efficient and popular 'CCC' in which case any supervisor he would have been put onto was unlikely to even be a police officer.

You may insert sarcastic tones where appropriate!

The other thing is, I really wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere near the custody office when he booked his 'prisoner' in.

    ReplyDelete
  6. And to think he spent 600 quid on a website when google will give you one for free!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Anon, I agree with you about IR. I didn't realise that metcall/CCC had done away with the CI IR post though...

And yes, if you search the BBC website there is a video of Dizaei booking in his prisoner. He comes in with three escorting PCs, all of which make a very sharp exit and make it very clear they are talking to someone else and are NOT INVOLVED.

    Good thinking there.

  8. Finding a real witch in the act of boiling eye of newt and toe of frog, was an unusual conclusion to a witch hunt. For him to be caught thus must have seemed like precipitant manna to his critics. The deafening gloats cannot reduce an utterly fair and above board result.

There are many who have not enjoyed this result, now knowing a long standing confidence in the Commander as a potentially great police reformist, was totally misplaced.

Yet even the guileless will not overlook the certainty that many worse criminals are still in uniform because they were never hunted with the same zeal.

  15. I recently heard a term which I think encompasses Cmdr Dizaei, and many of his type that we see daily - "FIGJAM".

Fuck I'm Good, Just Ask Me.

Sadly nobody will be asking Dizaei anything while he's at her majesty's pleasure!

  16. Anon the Ch Insp IR post does still exist and is much the same as it always was, he/she is responsible for co ordinating the Pan London north and south channels, monitoring pursuits and more importantly being Silver for any spontaneousmobile armed ops running on the main channel

  18. Hi Area. As long ago as my time in the Met was, that `Urgent Assistance` call recording stood out like a bulldogs bollocks. Yeah, right.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I dont understand the being off-duty in uniform deal... surely that's very much in contrast with Force Policies and Procedures.... not to mention unprofessional (eating in a restaurant? I feel bad enough eating in public in uniform when I'm on duty)

The 999 call is hilarious... he's just a cretin.

    ReplyDelete
  20. So, you won't all be clubbing together to send him a "We'll miss you" card, then?

    Thought not.

  21. All this venom. The truth will out. One day, you will all learn the truth about this man, how bad he has been treated and the appalling miscarriage of justice you have all seen. Disgraceful.

  22. And as for Baghdadi being a "business man" - I'm sorry, but if he wasn't planted, I'll show my arse on the town hall steps. He's no more a business man than my mother. Unfortunately Ali Dizaei trusted him - the press are all geared up to crucifixion - poor bloke, never stood a chance. 2 hours to deliberate? yeah right, the jury gave that some real thought!!!!!!!!!!

  28. Only just heard the 999 call. As a nurse/MOP I find it astounding for anyone needing any kind of assistance, urgent or otherwise, to be so damn longwinded about it. Surely it's just location-nature of incident-HELP? I can't think of any emergency service worker feeling the need to point out exactly what rank they are when the proverbial is heading for the fan. Unless of course their heart's not in the job...

    ReplyDelete
  29. JuliaM - well said, I like having you as a bodyguard...

    Or was it pure panic?
