ReplyDeleteAnyway, I was with you up until the poppy thing. Call me a pinko fellow-travelling Stalinist if you like, but I'm sort of uncomfortable with the idea that you can only have principles/respect the sacrifices of British troops/not generally be a self-serving opportunist if you're wearing a poppy around Armistice Day. No doubt Clare Solomon is a self-serving opportunist, but the implied element of compulsion there seems to me to be sort of missing the point; if we owe our freedom to the sacrifices we have Armistice Day to commemorate, surely that includes the freedom not to wear a poppy without being thought unpatriotic or similar?
(For the record, I wore one. But my point is that it should be a choice that's valid either way, and not an obligation. At least, that's the way I see it.)

If her son is a student (18 plus) then that means she wa pregnant at 18. She's been "a student" for 4 years (though on a sabbatical paid for by her union) so what has she been doing from age 18 to 33? Another Left Wing parasite breeding another Left Wing parasite and so it goes on. I'm sure Ed Milliband has a photo of her somewhere.

And if you really think that Paxman is the one looking like an idiot in this clip, I'm shocked... incidentally, he doesn't just ask questions that HE doesn't know the answers to. In fact, lots of the time he of course knows already, due in part to the researchers.
The reason he asks questions is so the viewers can know the answers to the questions - it's kind of the point of the programme, and TV in fact.
